What are sinuses?
Sinuses are the air filled spaces behind the bones in your face. They are covered in a mucous layer and cilia (small hairs). They are supposed to trap and push out bacteria and pollutants.
Sinuses have an opening that allows the mucous to drain…this is important to keep you healthy. Anything that obstructs that opening may cause a buildup of mucous in the sinuses.
